This educational module is aimed at the drone and advanced air mobility industries to provide a guide to the functions and priorities of local authorities. The aim is to help industry to optimise their engagement with local authorities when selling services directly to them, seeking local authority support in developing an ecosystem of third-party drone operations and introducing advanced air mobility services into the community.
This educational resource was Commissioned by the Community Integration Working Group (CIWG) ~ Funded by UKRI Future Flight Challenge.
The UK’s blue light services are some of the most prolific and pioneering drone operators in the country. The police and fire services coordinate policy, operations and purchasing with each other, striving to develop as many inhouse capabilities as possible. Other emergency services, such as ambulance, coast guard and mountain rescue, are developing new policies on drone use. This module examines how blue light services are currently using drones and what future capabilities will be required from the drone and AAM industries. It examines the partnerships being developed between local authorities, industry and blue light services to exploit new technologies as they enter the market.
